Learn In this Saturday: Mancamps and MMIW in Michigan
Title Track’s Co-Executive Director, Holly T. Bird, will be presenting as part of the indigenous led “Learn-In” on Mancamps and MMIW in Michigan this Saturday, May 21st, at the Greensky Church in Charlevoix.
This event will bring together activists, public officials, and Enbridge representatives in an attempt to create a plan to prevent violence and ensure accountability in anticipation of the proposed Line 5 tunnel.
“Mancamp” is a term used to describe the groups of workers who travel from across the country to work on pipeline construction sites. The proposed line 5 tunnel will bring 1200 workers to our community.
Learn-In speakers will also discuss #MMIW (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women), the effects of colonization, personal experiences, regional sex trafficking, legal advocacy for survivors and tribal and state law enforcement prevention strategies.
Please RSVP to the Facebook event if you plan to attend.
