Celebrate Black History Month with our partners at E3
We encourage you to celebrate Black History Month with our partners at Northern Michigan E3, who created this wonderful resource spotlighting important Black leaders throughout the month as well as sharing weekly days of action in support of their efforts in our community.
E3 invites you to join the Council in our Celebration of Black History Month. Historically, much of BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) history relied upon teaching outside of our school systems. Recent years have seen an improvement as schools and libraries respond to the important calls to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Yet, current efforts are seeking to resist, and even make that fuller history illegal to teach! Now, more than ever before, it is up to us to educate ourselves, insist BIPOC history be taught as part of this land’s history, and support our teachers, administrators, school boards, and librarians to do the same! We begin with a month full of postings here. We hope you will join us!
