Black Excellence spotlight: Kaylan Waterman

Kaylan Waterman is a founding board member of Title Track, a musician, community organizer, artist advocate, and a Detroiter. Kaylan has been essential in the building and growing of Title Track over these first 5 years and we are deeply grateful for her service.

Kaylan’s central musical project is Vespre, in which she serves as writer, producer, instrumentalist, and lead vocalist. Translating as “late evening” or “Evensong,” Vespre’s music is meant to represent the moments that stand between the day and the night. With elements of Soul Gaze and Nu-Disco, Vespre is at once a musical exploration of the ethereal and an examination of the artist’s roots in Gospel, Folk, and Soul music. Check out Vespre’s newly released EP, “things we want to know,” available now via streaming or on cassette.
