Black Excellence spotlight: Jenny Jones

In this final week of Black History Month we are going to shine the spotlight on our Black staff and board members who honor the profound legacies of Black History as they embody Black Excellence every day as they live, create, heal, build community, and do the work for a more equitable and just future and present day.

In our first profile, Carmelitta Tiffany spotlights our Co-Executive Director, Jenny Jones.

“My first association with Title Track was with a young woman who at first impressed me as an established, professional, and confident person. But I didn’t realize how much she had accomplished until we got to know each other. I did have to research her on the internet, as she was too humble to tell me her whole list of successes.

First of all, she is an established musician and songstress, classically-trained in piano and cello, a self-taught guitarist and has two albums in her repertoire. Not only does she possess these talents, but her benevolent spirit invokes  that she use her love for music and extensive  management skills to help other artists succeed.

An active member of the arts community in Southeast Michigan, she sits on the boards of The Ark (Ann Arbor) and The Amplify Project (Amplify Fellowship). Her involvement in serving her community doesn’t stop there – a member  of the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation (AAACF) Arts & Culture Committee, CultureSource’s CultureMakers Cohort, the Michigan Arts and Cultural Council (MACC, formerly MCACA) Rising Leaders program, the Nonprofit Enterprise at Work 2020-2021 Champions for Change Cohort, The Ark’s Marketing Advisory Committee, and the Ann Arbor Summer Festival’s (A2SF) Planning Advisory Committee and Community Engagement Committee, she holds her community close to her heart.

As Co-Executive Director of Title Track, Jenny wears even more hats, and does a lot of juggling when it comes to responsibilities. She handles it all with grace and positivity, and Title Track wouldn’t be the same without her skills, talents, and passion.

But most importantly, Jenny is a friend to all, including myself. Being a new member in the Title Track family, I came into my position like a babe in the woods, but Jenny took time from her incredibly busy schedule (did I tell you she has a full-time job, as well?) to take me under her wing and give me the confidence to succeed. I will never forget her kindness and patience and expect to see her take her specialness to high places in the future.”

Jenny sits down with fellow Title Track Co-Executive Directors Holly T. Bird, and Seth Bernard at the Neahtawanta Inn for a deep conversation about each of their roots with Title Track, their inspirations for continuing to engage in this meaningful work, and much more.
